The company

The expertise on the whole lifecycle of records is what makes docuteam unique. It is the mission of thirty employees to keep the management, archiving and use of analogue and digital records as simple as possible. We are active throughout the German and French speaking part of Switzerland and occasionally also abroad.

We can ensure continuity as a well established, professionally recognised, owner-managed company in the legal form of a capital corporation. This is highly appreciated by those customers whose records and archives we manage with the outsourcing principle. Nonetheless, those who hire us for short-term projects and wish to continue working on their own can also profit from it – they may always rely on our services again.

Docuteam GmbH exists since 2003. The two company owners Andreas Steigmeier and Tobias Wildi brought their individual archiving experiences into this company. Back then the business idea was to help small and middle-sized organisations to professionally managed archives. Today we also work for large archives who employ their own staff, and for globally active companies – not only in the management of their archives but also their active business records (records management). Up to this day we rely on the international standards recommended by ISO and ICA. We emphasise this with our participation in professional organisations such as the International Council on Archives (ICA) or the Association of Swiss Archivists (VSA). Tobias Wildi is also a member of the Federal Committee for Cultural Heritage Protection (Kulturgüterschutz).

2006 we started developing our own skills in the field of digital long-term preservation. Owing to international professional exchange, the collaboration with various universities of applied sciences and our own software development we stay ahead. In many counselling and implementation projects we apply the latest academic research pragmatically. We do not see the archiving of digital information as an end in itself but as a service for future users. We therefore speak of long-term “preservation” and “curation” rather than of long-term “archiving”.

We develop our own software for long-term archiving und publish it under an open-source licence. This makes us independent from manufacturers. We install and integrate open-source products like AtoM and Pleade, yet we don’t deliver any ECM or document management systems (DMS or RMS). Neither do we store archival materials or data from third-parties. Our core competencies are the organisational management of the document lifecycle, the handling of metadata and the long-term preservation of paper and digital records.
