docuteam packer is the only software application that is locally installed. This practical, open source tool can be downloaded and used to create delivery packages. Delivery packages (SIP, submission information packages) are files enriched with additional data that you wish to archive.
docuteam feeder validates the incoming delivery packages, migrates the files into archivable formats and logs this process. This converts the delivery packages into archive packages (AIP, archival information packages).
The submission information packages (SIP) now reach the repository that is managed by the Fedora Commons software. Fedora Commons is an internationally renowned, powerful and sustainable tool that can be used to control actions in the repository and to monitor the integrity of data.
AtoM (Access to Memory) is used as archival information system (AIS). This system manages the archival materials that are in your archive. It follows the ISAD(G) and ISAAR(CPF) archiving standards used worldwide.
If you already have an AIS you do not need AtoM, but we connect your existing system to docuteam cosmos.
docuteam bridge is the interface (API) for connecting third-party applications to docuteam cosmos. The connection of such applications takes place in an initial project.
Hosting
For data hosting we use SWITCHengines, the cloud infrastructure from SWITCH (https://www.switch.ch/). We combine this stable and redundant storage with our repository systems.
SWITCH was founded in 1987 as a non-profit foundation under private law by the Swiss Confederation and the then eight university cantons.
The infrastructure of SWITCHengines (https://www.switch.ch/engines/) operates in two SWITCH-owned data centres in Zurich and Lausanne under Swiss Dataprotection jurisdiction. The cloud is based on Open Stack infrastructure and well documented.
SWITCH offers contracts with long notice periods and terms. Short notice periods pose a problem for archival applications among other cloud providers.
